Matt Bowling Earns First Career Win at East Carolina

By: Justin Kern

Robersonville, NC – After a wild night of racing the week before that saw eight cars tangled up on the front stretch, sixteen cars rolled into East Carolina Motor Speedway for the I’m Lovin it 220. Five of the top forty NWAAS Late Model Stock Car drivers were in attendance this weekend with one of them being the National Points leader Matt Bowling.

Louis White ended up grabbing the pole in both Late Model features earlier in the afternoon during qualifying after setting the two fastest times. Doing things just a bit different than most tracks that run twin features, the drivers fastest lap set the field for the first feature while the slowest lap set the starting order for the second race.

Matt Bowling Heads to East Carolina Motor Speedway as National Points Battle Heats Up

By: Justin Kern

Robersonville, NC – NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National points leader Matt Bowling pulled into East Carolina Motor Speedway this weekend as the National point’s battle heats up. With just a one-point lead going into this weekend, Bowling is looking to capitalize on the increased car counts and twin features in the Late Model division that East Carolina Motor Speedway has been boasting this year.

With twelve starts over four different tracks; Bowling enters the weekend with 358 points, just one point over Chase Purdy who is actually scheduled to run the CARS Tour event at Tri-County Motor Speedway and Greenville Pickens Speedway point’s leader. Purdy and Keith Rocco, who finished 12th in Stafford Motor Speedway’s 45- lap SK Modified feature Friday night, enter the weekend tied for second in the national standings.

Thomas Burbage Declared Winner in Caution Shortened Feature

By: Justin Kern

Robersonville, NC – Thomas Burbage left East Carolina Motor Speedway with a first place trophy in one hand, and some car parts in the other, as did quite a few others after a massive eight car pile up at the flag stand, coming to the white flag, forced race control to end the race early. With just 35-laps in a feature race with maximum points on the line in a full field of Late Models, things are going to get interesting.

The field was bunched up after a late race caution with fewer than five laps to go after Louis White went for a spin going through turns one and two. Not able to confirm if there was any contact with any other car that made, but after looking at the video, appears that Louis might have been up in the marbles and the go just went around on him.
